Ocho Bajos Music is an artistic agency dedicated to the accordion-based traditions of Uruguay and other countries of the Americas. The button accordion and bandoneón are deeply rooted in the folklore of Uruguay. It is Ocho Bajos Music’s mission to promote and cultivate these musical traditions and teach about the stories of their creators and interpreters. Ocho Bajos Music has presented international artists at prestigious venues such as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington, D.C., USA) and the Festival de Inverno de Garanhuns (Pernambuco, Brazil) and has also co-produced recordings with the renowned label Smithsonian Folkways Recordings.
